GHS Compliance Labeling

GHS Labels

The deadline to have all hazardous chemicals properly labeled according to OSHA’s GHS (Globally Harmonized System) has passed.

Hazardous materials & GHS Labeling is an effort to increase workplace safety for employees by providing a system with globally recognized symbols. According to the GHS guidelines all chemical manufacturers, importers, distributors, and employers are required to have all chemicals labeled with the new classification system by June 1, 2015.

Compliance for the GHS Label includes a new symbol classification or pictograms. These pictograms are enclosed by red diamonds and according to the standard you must only have the corresponding number of diamonds, (no more, no less) that are applicable to the material.

In addition to the pictograms, the GHS Label requirements include Hazard statements, Precautionary Statements, the manufacturer information, and more.

December 1st will mark the time when distributors will not be able to send ANY products with outdated SDS and/or outdated labels.
